Which size DeluxGear Lens Guard^TM or Lens Bumper^TM do I need?

To put the Guard or Bumper over my lens hood:

You have two options:

1. Over the end of my hood when it is in use. See Diagram 2 below.

We recommend you only use the Lens Guard or Lens Bumper on the hood when the hood is 1 3/4” (4.4 cm) or less in length. If it is, follow these steps:

Step A:  Locate the widest point of your lens hood in the front 1 3/4″ (4.4 cm).

Step B:  Measure the outer diameter of your lens hood at this widest point. To do so:

1.     Wrap a string around this point to circle the lens hood exactly once.

2.     Measure the length of the string required.

3.     Divide that length by 3.14. The resulting number is the diameter.

Note: Do not go by the filter size.

Step C:  Consult the Size Chart below to determine the size of Lens Guard or Lens Bumper to fit your lens hood. In the example in Diagram 2 below, the lens measures 3 3/16” or 8.1 cm, so would take a Large Lens Guard/Bumper.

For hoods longer than 1 3/4” (4.4 cm), you will only want to use the Lens Guard or Lens Bumper on the hood when it is inverted. When a longer hood like this is in use, the Lens Bumper over the lens is your best solution.

2. Over the hood when it is inverted and stored. See Diagram 3 below.

To determine what size Lens Guard or Lens Bumper you need when the hood is inverted and stored, follow these steps:

Step A:  Locate the widest point of your lens hood within 1 3/4” (44 mm)  of the mounting rim .

Step B:  Measure the outer diameter of your lens hood at its widest point. To do so:

1.     Wrap a string around this point to circle the lens hood exactly once.

2.     Measure the length of the string required.

3.     Divide that length by 3.14. The resulting number is the diameter.

Note: Do not go by the filter size.

Step C:  Consult the Size Chart below to determine the size of Lens Guard or Lens Bumper to fit your lens hood. In the example in Diagram 3 below, the lens measures 4 1/16” or 10.3 cm, so would take an Extra Large Lens Guard/Bumper.
