Focus hunt in low light is one of the biggest issues for all photographers. Have you ever been outside at dusk and missed the shot because your camera kept whirring, not knowing where to focus in the low light, or it focused on an object in front of the subject you wanted? Or maybe you were inside at a wedding reception, but couldn’t get the detailed beading on the wedding dress because your camera lens was unable to focus. You may have also wanted a shot of a hawk in front of a dim, dark background, and not been able to lock in on it.

The PinPoint Focus Assist takes the guesswork out of focusing in low light. It helps photographers instantly highlight their focus point.

The PinPoint emits a narrow green light beam. The camera auto-focus zeros in on that small point and quickly acquires focus with accuracy.

The PinPoint uses a universal mount for any SLR/DSLR camera, securing to the tripod mount of the camera body or battery pack. It also secures to any lens tripod collar, and to most tripod quick release plates. It has these features:

Class II, green (532nm) DPSS diode with <1mW of power. DeluxGear certifies to the purchaser that the PinPoint complies with all the requirements of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) laser product safety regulations.
Height adjustment slider bar for vertical positioning.
Range of 0.75 to 40 meters in low light. The actual range you experience depends on the focal range of the lens. Lenses less than 400 mm may have an adjustable focal range up to 20 meters, and the PinPoint will therefore help you acquire focus only up to that point, to the limit of the lens’ adjustable focal range.
Self-contained power: Uses two AAA batteries for 6 months standard usage.
Manually controlled, pressure sensitive activator button.
Eliminates need to use a flash for IR or white light pre-focus.
Housing is tough ABS autograde plastic.

As a PinPoint user, you can be confident in getting a sharply focused photo of the subject you want. Unless the photographer or subject moves, focus won’t be the problem in consistently taking excellent photographs, or capturing that once-in-a-lifetime shot. You can:

Take photos in low light, even in the dark
Pick subjects out of a crowd
Stop worrying about stray objects in the foreground capturing the focus
Photograph solid colored surfaces and objects, like black tuxes and white wedding gowns

You can also use the PinPoint as a sighting tool to align a shot without looking through the viewfinder.

The PinPoint includes a built-in laser diode. Therefore, it is important to adhere to the following warnings and safety instructions to prevent injury:

Never intentionally shine the PinPoint into a person’s eyes, or stare into the laser beam. Pointing a laser into a person’s eyes, or staring directly at the laser beam, can cause instant temporary vision dysfunction such as flash blindness, disorientation or glare. This can be particularly dangerous if the exposed person is engaged in a vision-critical activity such as driving or other means of transportation. In addition, prolonged or repeated exposure to the laser beam can be hazardous and damaging to eyes.
Never aim the PinPoint anywhere on any person without notifying them in advance. In many states and provinces, it is illegal to aim a laser at a law enforcement officer or on any other person. The purchaser/user is responsible for insuring that his or her use of the PinPoint conforms to any laws where the PinPoint is used.
Under no circumstances direct the PinPoint at moving or occupied vehicles, including aircraft.
Do not point the PinPoint at reflective surfaces. A reflected beam can act like a direct beam on the eye.
The PinPoint Focus Assist is not a toy. Do not allow a minor to use the PinPoint unsupervised. In some states and provinces, it is illegal for a minor to purchase or use a laser product. The purchaser/user is responsible for insuring that his or her purchase or use of the PinPoint conforms to any laws in effect in the location of use.
Never attempt to open the PinPoint housing to access or manipulate the laser module.

PinPoint is extremely easy-to-use. When you are ready to take the photo, simply press the On/Off button and PinPoint emits a narrow green light beam. The camera’s auto-focus then quickly zeroes in on the light to acquire focus. If you are focusing manually, just focus on the pinpoint of light. You manually control the length of time the light is visible.

The simple universal mount fits DSLR or point-and-shoot cameras. It easily secures to the tripod mount on your camera body or battery pack, the tripod collar of larger lenses, or tripod quick release plates.

The PinPoint also works perfectly with the DeluxGear Lens Cradle and Cradle Mount. If you have a lens with a tripod collar, support your camera and lens with the Lens Cradle and mount the PinPoint to the lens tripod collar. With it, you can easily focus, and even zero in on subjects without raising the camera to your face! If you simply use the Cradle Mount on your camera, you have a handy stand to keep your camera and lens off any surface.
